It is not known for certain how Dracula came to be, but it is believed that Vlad Tepes (aka Vlad the Impaler) made a deal with the devil to obtain the supernatural powers of a vampire which enabled him to defeat the invading Ottoman army. These powers include extreme strength, speed, and agility as well as some sort of hypnotic mind control. Stories also persist that Dracula can turn into a bat, wolf, or even fog, but this is unconfirmed. Dracula's vampiric powers also came with a curse: he is only immortal as long as he continues to drink human blood.
Reports place Dracula in London in 1897, where he was responsible for several deaths. The Adventure Team encountered Dracula in 1973 while investigating a diamond smuggling operation in Romania. Although the team was unable to destroy Dracula, they did kill his "brides" and were able to save another victim from becoming a vampire.
