Krieger's parents immigrated to America from Germany before WWI. Krieger excelled at science and math and became interested in the field of cybernetics. When he was drafted for WWII, Krieger saw an opportunity to use his research into cybernetics to augment US soldiers in exchange for funding of his research. However, the US Military refused Krieger's unethical experiments. Realizing that the Germans would be interested in his work, Krieger turned traitor. To prove his loyalty to the Germans, Krieger betrayed his platoon and lead them into a trap. As his reward, Krieger was made the head of the International Robotic Operations Network and created the I.R.O.N. Army, a group of soldiers who were enhanced through cybernetics.
Krieger was so obsessed with his work that he never thought twice about betraying his fellow soldiers. Once he joined the Germans he had limitless resources with which to conduct he heinous experiments. The I.R.O.N. Army is the result of these experiments, and it is just as twisted and evil as its creator. Thankfully, Krieger had only a short amount of time to develop his army, as the war ended in 1945. Krieger himself disappeared when allied forces destroyed his laboratory in Frankfurt.
